Robot Karaoke

Join us for karaoke night on impossible mode as we replace the lyrics to any SONG with words from any TEXT, then try to sing the results on the spot. It all happens live, so each song has never been heard before and will never be heard again.

Our songwriting system, THE WEIRD ALGORITHM, matches each line syllable-for-syllable, so you can sing along if you know the original tune.

Request any of the 100+ songs and 50+ texts in the catalog. Sign up to sing as an individual or a group...or sit back and watch the karaoke carnage.

Past combos include:

YELP REVIEWS OF PSYCHICS to the tune of TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART

CRAIGSLIST VEHICLE ADS to the tune of TAKE ME HOME COUNTRY ROADS

NEGATIVE REVIEWS OF PROFESSORS to the tune of VAMPIRE

BERNIE SANDERS EMAIL SUBJECT LINES to the tune of DON'T STOP BELIEVIN'

Hosted by Jamie Brew and Jenn Schiffer, two tech entrepreneurs on a mission to make karaoke harder and worse.

Crossfade: A T4T Open Decks

Crossfade: A T4T Open Decks

3 people behind a DJ booth with the information of the event overlaying their faces

Voluminous Arts is launching a new open decks series for anyone self-identifying as transgender who is a DJ, aspiring DJ, or curious about DJing!

It’s CROSSFADE: a T4T Open Decks, starting Thursday May 15th 8pm - 2am hosted by CMD+JAZMINE at Wonderville, 1186 Broadway, Brooklyn, NY 11221.

Based on the understanding that DJing plays an increasingly important role in the lives of many trans artists, Voluminous Arts is launching this series to provide access to DJ equipment in a club environment to self identified trans and non-binary people. Trans people interested in learning to DJ, upcoming or accomplished Trans DJs, and Trans folks curious about DJing are invited to sign up for a slot, bring their Rekordbox formatted USB and play! Each edition of CROSSFADE will raise funds to benefit a trans community member in need.

In May we’ll be raising funds to support Adonis Huff, a musician, artist, and poet living in New York whose acute interest in noise and diy culture fuels his live performances and recordings under the moniker Mercury Symbol.

Voluminous Arts is a cultural organization with a vision to build a community center for trans people in New York City. A suggested $10 donation will support our community directly, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Accessibility: Wonderville is on the ground floor so there are no stairs or ramps to get inside the venue. The front door is standard width as well as the entrance to the arcade/venue. Access to the backyard is slightly narrower due to how the building is constructed so some persons may have difficulty getting into the backyard area. There is also a ramp to access the rear deck. All of our bathrooms are gender neutral, and the first stall is wheelchair accessible.

The stage does not have a ramp, but they can provide a step stool to access the performance area.

Some of the arcades in the performance space use strobe lighting effects, and performances may involve bright lighting or loud music. Wonderville sells earplugs behind the bar if you need them. The sounds from the arcade games can be muted during performances (please ask the sound engineer) but they do not turn the games off.

Most events are standing room, but they can provide seating upon request.

In the arcade/performance space there are no tables to sit down, but they do have spaces in the bar. There are also large picnic tables in the backyard, weather permitting. The backyard is a quiet space with no screens or loud music.

They do not have a coat check, but there is a coat rack just inside the front door that patrons may use at their own risk.

If you need to report an issue during your time at Wonderville, please speak to the bartender or the security guard.

Please contact hello@wonderville.nyc if you have any specific accessibility questions!

Covid protocols: While we would love to provide on-site testing, Voluminous Arts does not currently have the financial resources to provide that, so please test before coming and stay cozy at home if you test positive or do not feel well.

Masking is welcome. Please respect the choices of your fellow attendees on the choice to wear or not wear a mask.

Stay tuned for further updates, we will be adjusting as needed if there are significant changes in Covid cases.

If you would like to partner with us to provide masks and/or testing, please reach out to info@voluminousarts.com

To donate directly to Voluminous Arts, do so here: https://withfriends.co/event/23290157/open_decks_at_wonderville

GOTHIC SUMMER, ELECTRICITY, SIRENCORE

Gothic summer, electric energy, sirencore. This curated line up is the portal we need from a chaotic spring to a transcendent summer.

If you’re into electronic beats and nasty synths underlying siren-esque, soaring vocals this is your night. We begin our journey with Joo Won Shin, a South Korean vocalist you may have heard sing Fly me to the Moon in Squid Game. Her music is as lethal as the show.

Makko Red will then send us into our summer feels with his Tame Impala influenced sound, and Nigerian rhythms that flow through his veins. Enter Sceptre takes us home with their gothic club music and brand new single.

Come dance, experience, release, be. @joowonshin @makkored @entersceptre

Tackycardia: 021

For our 21st affair on 5/30 at Wonderville we’re gonna do something special and give our resident DJs a chance to dig a bit deeper into their tool kits with extended sets featuring special guests of their choosing.

Cryostatik brings his signature mix of footwork, drum and bass and breaks while Alex Viper brings their uptempo genrefluid sound that keeps everyone…including herself on their toes. In addition, DJ Allegation makes their debut as a Tackycardia resident with their mix of old school house, polyrhythmic hard groove, and Detroit techno with a flair for electro basslines and cunty vocals.

We’re also over the moon to have the legend WTCHCRFT joining us following appearances as part of Madness Of on pop ups with Sara Landry, a mix release on No Signal, and an album release on Haven.

We look forward to seeing y’all for what’s sure to be a fun night. As usual Tackycardia is a 150+ genrefluid affair with free entry and free to play arcade games. Donations are welcome to further support our events and can be made via cash in the tip bucket on the stage or via venmo through our QR code that you’ll see posted around the venue.

Evening Science Time!

Join us for Evening Science Time! A team of godless researchers put science and comedy into a centrifuge and the resulting product appears to be a series of fast-paced, engaging powerpoint presentations from some people you love! That’s science for you.

Hosted by the insatiably curious filmmaker Tessa Bury (@tessabury), this evening will feature presentations from Tom Lum, Reid Pope, and Annie Rauwerda… and an additional musical surprise guest. But that’s a secret. A science secret.

🧪 Tom Lum (@tomlumperson) is a science communicator and co-host of the award-winning podcast Let’s Learn Everything! on Maximum Fun. His science storytelling has been featured by Veritasium, SciShow, and Maximum Fun, but don’t worry— he still has more science to communicate.

📖 Annie Rauwerda (@depthsofwikipedia) is a journalist and comedian known for Depths of Wikipedia, where she digs up the strangest and most fascinating information from the corners of Wikipedia for 1.5M followers. A 2022 Wikimedian of the Year, she has brought esoteric knowledge to live comedy shows, TEDx Talks, and The New York Times. One summer, she made a stew that received positive attention for many consecutive weeks.

🎭 Reid Pope (@rpopegram) is a comedian, playwright, and the Co-Creator / EP / Head Writer of Going Down, a trans-led comedy news show. Their work has been featured in The New Yorker, PAPER, and Vulture. Reid’s short film, “Lesbian Jesus Is Pregnant With Vibes”, premiered at NewFest in 2024. Reid is also very knowledgable about science.
