This time last year, the FORT90 FILM CLUB presented "TWO MOVIES FILLED WITH LOTS & LOTS OF CATS", so of course the follow-up had to be double the amount of films, all featuring man's best friend...
LOVE ON A LEASH - The film's "plot" goes something like this: a lovelorn woman takes in a stray dog that conveniently enough becomes a human at night. But there's more, way more than just that. Ever since The Room, there has been a mad dash to find the next "it's so bad, it's good" film, and Love On A Leash is perhaps the strongest legitimate contender to that crown thus far.
QUIGLEY - Wait, TWO movies about human beings turning into dogs? Why yes, but this one stars Gary Busey, as a vile video game designer/multi-billionaire, and the doggo in this instance is a lil Pomeranian. Did I also mention that it's a family film that's designed to peddle Christian values? Some might think "it's so bad, it's just terrible" but given the presence of video games plus Busey plus the guy who played Booger in Revenger of the Nerds (Curtis Armstrong), how could it NOT be shown?
THE PLAGUE DOGS - If you're going to watch an emotionally taxing movie about dogs, then let it be this gorgeously animated feature that serves the shining jewel of the late 70s/early 80s independent animation landscape. The follow-up to the animated adaptation of Watership Down (aka, The Lord of the Rings but with bunnies) is based upon another Martin Rosen novel that makes said previous feature feel like an actual Disney production due to its exceptionally bleak narrative.
A BOY AND HIS DOG - Rarely as a film aged as poorly as this science fiction/black comedy/cult classic; based upon the work of Harlan Ellison this time, the story takes place in the not so distant future, in the year 2024, not long after World War 4. The story is supposed to be about a teenager and his telepathic dog trying to survive a post-apocalyptic wasteland, but it's mostly about a kid that's obsessed with sex in a post-apocalyptic wasteland; viewer description is HIGHLY ADVISED.
