the FORT90 FILM CLUB presents: "CRAZY TRAINS"

  • Wonderville 1186 Broadway Brooklyn, NY, 11221 United States (map)

For the next several installments of the FORT90 FILM CLUB at Wonderville we will celebrate cinema that involves moving vehicles. And given that we're in NYC, it only makes sense to kick things off with movies that feature trains...

THE TAKING OF PELHAM ONE TWO THREE - Four men in disguise manage to take over a southbound 6 train and hold all the passengers in their car hostage, for one million dollars. This crime caper is, simply put, one of the finest NYC movies ever committed to film.

THROW MAMA FROM THE TRAIN - Billy Crystal plays a frustrated writer who teaches a community college course on writing, and whose star student is Danny DeVito. One day the student asks the teacher to kill his mother; why? Because it was the writer's idea, that's why.

RUNAWAY TRAIN - Two escaped convicts and an assistant locomotive driver find themselves on the titular mode of transport. This Cannon Films production that was "kinda/sorta directed by Akira Kurosawa is without a doubt the absolute best 80s action flick that you've probably never even heard of.
