  • Wonderville 1186 Broadway Brooklyn, NY, 11221 United States (map)

The FORT90 FILM CLUB, broadcasting from Twitch dot TV forward slash WondervilleNYC, continues its survey of vehicular themed movies with a focus this month on blacktop bullies...

ROAD RAGE - This early 80s taste of essential Ozploitation was essentially a wake up call that the Australian film scene was a force to be reckoned with, largely due to it A. starring one of Hollywood's hottest stars at the time, aka Jamie Lee Curtis, B. also starring a talent that was shamefully absent on the big screen at the time, hence why Stacy Keach was mostly doing television roles in America, and C. being gutsy enough to be a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window, but with trucks.

DUEL - Steven Spielberg 's very first feature film is arguably one of this efforts efforts ever, a made for television movie that far exceeded the limitations that are imposed on such productions; it's about a guy driving down the highway in the desert that comes across a large slow truck, which he then passes, leading the mysterious individual behind the wheels of the 18 wheeler to extract revenge. That's it, that's the plot, and that's all you need.

SORCERER - There is so much to be said about this legit classic, yet another example of how filmmakers during the 70s were literally pumping out the greatest movies of all time (which is why it's especially shocking that the follow-up from the director that gave us The French Connection & The Exorcist was considered a bomb). It's also a sprawling epic, so a plot summation is behind the scope of this basic write-up, so I'm simply copy & paste one reviewer's two centers on Letterboxd: "Perfect movie if you want to reorient yourself on your couch and go "aaAAAaa jesus christ" every few minutes."

... Plus there's an as of yet unannounced forth film! One that basically no one outside of Japan has even heard of.
