Join us at Wonderville, a DIY arcade and bar in New York City, for an unforgettable night of music and celebration at the nmlstyl album release party! This event will feature performances from three incredible artists, each bringing their unique sounds and styles to the stage.
Kicking off the night is Bit Shifter, a New York City-based artist known for his high-impact, low-res music produced using a standard Nintendo Game Boy. Bit Shifter explores the aesthetics of economy, pushing minimal hardware to its maximum potential, creating a bracing distillation of the less-is-more philosophy. As a co-administrator of the 8bitpeoples collective and co-founder of the international Blip Festival event series, Bit Shifter's performances are a must-see for fans of chiptune and electronic music. Next up, ηmlstyl (pronounced "animal style") will take the stage to celebrate the release of their new album. Joey Mariano's audiovisual project blends electronic music, guitar, graffiti, code, and pixel art, creating a unique and dynamic live show. Expect a mix of chiptune, surf rock, techno, instrumental hip hop, and retro 80s textures, with influences from video game soundtracks, jazz professionals, and DIY punk. The performance will feature powerful drumming by Yusef Kelliebrew, original music utilizing 90s puzzle game samples, reinvented Pac-Man-style sound effects, retro guitar tones, and lush synth bass patches. Closing the show is DonutShoes, a New England-based composer, multi-instrumentalist, instrument builder, and chiptune artist specializing in Game Boy dance music. Wielding link’d-n-sync’d Game Boys armed with LSDJ, DonutShoes delivers jams ranging from sludgy mid-tempo to hyped up chip’n’bass. Are his shoes really made of donuts? You'll have to find out that answer yourself!
Throughout the night, you can also purchase handmade art and apparel by nmlstyl, products by Bit Sifter and DonutShoes. Don’t miss this great lineup at Wonderville!
