Phara is a leftist Democrat, union nurse, tenant activist, and life-long resident of Crown Heights. She is a proud Democratic Socialist, and has been endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America. Phara joined DSA after founding a tenant association and fighting against gentrification in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

In Albany, Phara has successfully passed the Less is More Act, fully funded public schools, and fought to raise $4.5 billion in new revenue by taxing the rich in the first New York State budget to include no cuts to social services in forty years. We need to keep her in office so she can continue to fight for the protections and social services from green infrastructure to expanded public transit and protections for all people we all deserve.
